Cases Surge in SW Virginia

The last few weeks have brought significant increases in the average number of cases per 100,000 people for our area. Roanoke County, Salem, Roanoke City and Botetourt have positivity rates for COVID-19 tests close to or over 10%. That is considered the highest risk category. It is critical that we continue to follow the CDC guidelines to reduce the spread. Wear a mask, wash your hands and stay 6 feet apart inside and outside whenever possible. Socializing in closed spaces (homes, restaurants and bars) puts you at increased risk. Please do not send your child to school if they have a close contact with someone with symptoms or someone waiting on the results of a COVID test. If your child has been exposed to a positive case, please notify Linda or Patrick. The COVID Working Group is working on a risk assessment model that will take into account our wider community risk, as well as looking at risks specific to our school. More information will be shared next week.

Thanks for doing such a great job completing daily health screenings and taking temperatures. We are very glad that this is our 10th week of school and appreciate all you are doing to keep everyone healthy.
