CS Welcomes Bolivian Exchange Students Once Again

On October 23rd, nine Bolivian exchange students arrived in Roanoke and met the Community School families who will host them until the end of December.

This is Community School’s 20th year coordinating the program that invites middle school students from Bolivia to spend six weeks attending Community School while living with a host family and taking in all that is Virginia’s Blue Ridge and beyond. The longstanding program allows Community School students of all ages to enjoy the benefits of a cultural exchange as the Bolivians spend time in different classrooms and participate in various school activities.

In the spring, 10 to 12 CS students will travel to Bolivia and stay with families in Santa Cruz, where they will attend school for a month. This exchange creates a wonderful opportunity for our students to broaden their knowledge of Spanish, immerse themselves in the culture of another country, and gain confidence and independence.
